The City of Erie will have the flag at City Hall lowered to half-staff in honor of Reverend Jesse Jackson, Sr. The flag will stay lowered from now until March 7 in alignment with the recommendation from the African American Mayors Association.
“Reverend Jesse Jackson dedicated his life to advancing civil rights, promoting equality, and giving a voice to our most marginalized communities,” said Mayor Devlin. “Lowering our flag this week is a small but meaningful tribute to honor his legacy and the lasting impact of his work on communities across our nation.”
Reverend Jackson had been nationally recognized as a civil rights leader had spent decades advocating for social justice, economic opportunity, and equal rights.
