BEDFORD COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — State police investigators have identified the truck driver who was involved in last week’s deadly crash on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Bedford County.
Troopers say 46-year-old Joseph Means, of Bedford, reportedly died just moments before his truck exited the roadway and struck a concrete barrier, near the 134.5 eastbound mile marker, during the early morning hours of October 14th.
Police say the initial collision then propelled Means’ truck onto the barrier, as it continued to travel on top of it, before striking a bridge pier.
Investigators say that collision then caused the truck to catch fire and explode, at which time the cab of the truck overturned onto the driver’s side.
Troopers say Mr. Means was pronounced dead on scene but officials have since determined that he was dead before the crash.
Means officials cause of death have not been released.
