The Erie County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash that killed a 55-year-old pedestrian in Newstead.

ERIE COUNTY, N.Y. — The Erie County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal pedestrian crash in the Town of Newstead.

According to Erie County Sheriff John Garcia, on March 2, around 6:30 p.m., deputies responded to Main Street near Crittenden Road after receiving a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. Once at the scene, deputies say they saw a 55-year-old man lying on the road while members of Newstead Fire Company and Twin City Ambulance provided care.

The victim, who has not been identified, was transported to ECMC, where he later died during surgery.

Deputies say the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is reportedly cooperating with investigators.
