PENNSYLVANIA (WTAJ) — The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services is warning SNAP recipients that there is an active scam that aims to target their benefits.

According to the department, recipients have been receiving calls from the numbers listed below, with the caller claiming the person’s benefits are on hold until they verify their eligibility by providing their PIN.

This is a scam, with the DHS adding that it would never ask for personal information in an unsolicited text message, email or phone call. Anyone who has received a scam call or text is asked to report it to the department’s fraud tip line at 1-844-347-8477.
