WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE CO. (WOLF) — A Scranton man accused of pointing a handgun at demonstrators during a political rally in Wilkes-Barre last fall has admitted guilt to misdemeanor charges in Luzerne County Court.

Michael Paul Kolarik, 52, entered a guilty plea to simple assault and disorderly conduct during a dispositional hearing on February 27 before Judge David W. Lupas, according to court records. Sentencing is scheduled for April 29.

Kolarik had been charged in connection with an incident on the morning of October 18, 2025, during a “No Kings” rally held on Public Square. Authorities alleged Kolarik displayed a pistol and pointed it toward people gathered for the anti–President Donald Trump protest.

Court documents show Kolarik was originally charged with additional offenses, including reckless endangerment and terroristic threats. Those counts were withdrawn or resolved at the lower court level, while the assault and disorderly conduct charges proceeded in county court

The docket indicates Kolarik was arrested October 18, 2025, by Wilkes-Barre City police and later released after posting $50,000 monetary bail

The case remains open pending sentencing later this spring.
