Erie Public School has announced a district wide launch of a Suicide Prevention and Crisis Systems Review Setting. This standard aims to place a new standard for suicide prevention and crisis within public schools.

During a meeting on March 11, the Board of School Directors will meet to consider the agreement with UPMC Western Behavioral Health at Safe Harbor.

The goal of the agreement would be to review and strengthen what happens before, during, and after a crisis at any of Erie’s Public Schools.

If the agreement would move forward UPMC would assist with evaluating current district suicide prevention and crisis response systems, day-to-day practices, communication systems, staff training, partnerships, and real-world response across all schools.
