Hiram College President Rob Bohrer will leave at the end of the academic year for a job at Pennsylvania State University-Schuylkill.

Bohrer, who has been Hiram’s president since 2024, will become chancellor of the school in eastern Pennsylvania.

Bohrer arrived in 2022 at Hiram College as vice president of academic affairs and dean of the college. He became interim president in Summer 2023, and the board of trustees named him president in March 2024.

The new role will allow Bohrer to move home and be closer to his family, Hiram College stated in a press release.

“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I want to thank President Bohrer for his leadership and service to Hiram College over the past several years,” said Robert Turner, chairman of Hiram’s Board of Trustees. “He has led with integrity, transparency, and deep commitment to our students. We congratulate him on this next chapter, which brings him closer to family, and we are grateful for the progress achieved during his tenure. As a board, we are committed to ensuring a smooth transition and to sustaining the momentum of our strategic priorities.”

The Board of Trustees has begun planning transitional leadership and will move swiftly to determine the next steps, the college stated in a news release.

“At a time when higher education is evolving rapidly, Hiram is committed to agility, innovation and mission-driven leadership,” Turner said. “We are confident in our community and in the College’s ability to move forward with clarity and purpose.”
