BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Bethlehem Fire Department is paying tribute to current and former members who recently died.

They held a memorial service on Thursday at Fire Company Number-6 on West Broad Street.

They honored three firefighters, including two who had been retired after serving in the department for years.

The fire chief said it’s important to honor those who paved the way and helped advance ways to fight fires.

“They led in a way that they set the standard for who we are today. They encountered challenges and overcame those challenges,” said Chief Matthew Griffin of the fire department.

Members of Liberty High School’s band also performed “Taps” and “Amazing Grace” as part of the ceremony.
