BIRDSBORO, Pa. – We’re turning back the clock Wednesday morning to get a glimpse at life during the colonial period in honor of Pennsylvania’s birthday. The state is turning 345 years old!

69 News Reporter Rose Itzcovitz was at the Daniel Boone Homestead in Birdsboro with a preview of the celebrations to come.

An event this Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. will celebrate William Penn getting a land grant from King Charles II for Pennsylvania in 1681. Attendees will get to see historical demonstrations such as blacksmithing, gunsmithing, and open-hearth cooking.

Sunday’s celebration will also feature quill pen ink writing.

Gunsmithing demonstrations will also be featured at the Daniel Boone Homestead during its celebration in June honoring America’s 250th birthday. Daniel Boone learned how to hunt and trap in Pennsylvania when he was a child. He lived here for about 16 years.

For more information, people can go to the homestead’s website and Facebook page.
