Pilgers’ Pastries — a Scranton bakery that sold brownies, cookies, cream puffs, small cakes and macaroons out of the shop and filled custom orders for wedding cakes, party trays and pies — permanently closed its doors late last month, owner Tamara Pilger announced in a post on the business’s Facebook page.

Pilger opened Pilgers’ Pastries, 350 Adams Ave., in June 2022, after attending culinary school at Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts.

In the post, Pilger cited the rising costs of everything from utilities to packaging, rent and insurance as factors for closing the business.

Pilger also expressed appreciation for her customers in the post.

“I want to thank you all for your support of my small business for the past 3-plus years,” she said. “It has meant the world to myself and my family.”
