OBITUARY
Joseph Francis Carroll, 81, of the Greenwood section of Scranton died Sunday, March 1, 2026 at the Geisinger C.M.C.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Ann Phelps Mazzarella Carroll. Educated in Scranton schools. Until his retirement he worked as a truck driver for numerous companies including Dixon Blacktop and Agway Petroleum.
Joe was a long time Wahington Redskins fan. He took pride in fixing, building, and improving anything he could with his hands. He also enjoyed a good cigar and doing ceramics. Though he was not always easy, he loved in his own way and remained true to himself. Above all, he was immensely proud of his grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them. He loved gathering with family and friends, creating memories that will be treasured always.
Surviving are daughter Marie Carroll, Scranton; son Joseph M. Carroll and wife Lori, Ransom; grandchildren Lauren Carroll and Joseph Carroll, and Justin Davis and husband Jay; sisters Nancy Judge, Tina Howe, and Debbie Mazzarella; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by infant daughter Ashley Marie Carroll; sister Barbara Carroll; brothers Robert, Richard and Gerard Carroll.
A blessing service will be held Saturday at 11 am in the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., Scranton. Interment in Cathedral will be private. Family and friends can pay their respects Saturday from 9 am until time of service.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or American Heart Association.
