A former Bensalem police officer is accused of buying methamphetamines that authorities believe he intended to sell.

Bucks County detectives arrested Thomas J. Mee, 47, of Langhorne on March 3 as part of an ongoing drug investigation, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Detectives allege that Mee made arrangements to buy one-quarter pound of methamphetamines for $500.

Mee subsequently agreed to meet with an individual whom he believed to be a drug dealer at a Hilltown Walmart, where the exchange took place and Mee was arrested, the affidavit said.

The amount of drugs seized in the arrest suggest that Mee possessed them with the intent to distribute them, according to the affidavit.

Mee was arraigned before District Judge Regina Armitage on felony charges of drug possession and distribution, criminal use of a communication facility and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance.

He was taken to Bucks County Correctional Center in lieu of $500,000 bail. He had no legal representation listed as of March 4.

Bensalem Director of Public Safety William McVey confirmed that Mee had been a patrolman for the department for 13 years, leaving in 2019 in good standing for “personal reasons.”

“It’s very disheartening when you see a police officer or ex police officer engage in criminal activity,” McVey added. “He should face the consequences as any person facing these charges.”
