ALLENTOWN, Pa. – This week is “Read Across America Week,” and the Allentown School District is working to promote literacy and leadership skills.

On Wednesday, middle and high school students visited Hays and Ramos elementary schools, as well as Jackson Early Childhood Center, where they read books to the children.

The goal was to inspire a love of reading while serving as positive role models for younger learners.

“I feel great. I love reading to kids. I love interacting with our community. I love it all. I just love the nature of it. This is so fun,” said Erin Schweyer.

Some of the books read today were donated to the schools by the community.
