A man was arrested in Station Square on Wednesday afternoon after police said he led them on a chase through the area and later jumped into the river in an attempt to escape. Pittsburgh Public Safety officials said around 4 p.m., officers attempted to pull over a vehicle along Wood Street and Forbes Avenue when the suspect left the scene and led police on a chase. Officials said the man was suspected of stealing firearms from a vehicle in a Downtown parking garage earlier in the day. Allegheny County Sheriff’s deputies picked up the pursuit, following the vehicle over the Fort Pitt Bridge. The vehicle then turned onto West Carson Street and eventually hit a pole near Station Square. Public safety officials said the driver then ran from the vehicle and jumped into the river.
