William D. Heim

OBITUARY

William D. Heim, 78, of Spring Township, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 27, 2026, at Sinking Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Bill was the son of the late Daniel H. and Margaret (Hallis) Heim. He shared 56 wonderful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Nancy Lou (Bashore) Heim.

A proud graduate of Pottsville High School, Bill continued his education at Penn State University, earning his bachelor’s degree in Law Enforcement and Corrections. During his time there, he distinguished himself as Captain of the Army ROTC pistol and rifle team, reflecting both his discipline and leadership. He later earned his Master’s degree from West Chester University, further preparing for a life dedicated to public service.

Bill served honorably as a Parole Supervisor with the U.S. Probation Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Through years of steady and compassionate leadership, he worked to uphold justice while helping guide others toward second chances. He retired in 2002, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism, fairness, and integrity.

Outside of his career, Bill found his greatest peace in the outdoors. Whether hunting in the quiet woods or fishing along calm waters, he cherished the simplicity and beauty of nature. Those moments reflected his steady spirit — patient, observant, and deeply appreciative of life’s quieter gifts.

In addition to his beloved wife, Bill is survived by his grandson, Eric L. Heim of Pittsburgh, and two sisters, Gloria Crowe and Margaret Dean, both of Pottsville. He was preceded in death by his son, Chad W. Heim, and his sister, Rosie Chattin.

Bill’s services will be held privately at the convenience of his family. Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Shillington, is honored to be assisting the Heim family during this difficult time.
