Is this the year Pennsylvania lawmakers legalize the recreational use of Marijuana?

Governor Shapiro continues to push for it. But its still not certain if the legislature will approve it.

“People in Pennsylvania are now giving New York, New Jersey, Ohio everybody around us are benefiting because we have not legalized Marijuana in Pennsylvania”

State Representative Scott Conklin on the fact that all but one of Pennsylvania’s neighboring State’s have already legalized Marijuana. So will it happen here?

The problem is getting leadership to put this forth, its passed the house. I voted for it in the past. If it comes to a vote in the Senate, the Senate will pass it, but the thing is to make sure its done safe. To make sure its done correctly, but most of all, make sure taxpayers are to benefit”

Others in the Legislature not supportive of the idea, for various issues including one of the most heard about, Marijuana’s possible link to harder drugs

“There are a lot of discussion and arguments on whether Marijuana is a gateway drug, I’m not here to argue that, but generally I don’t see the positiveness, and I’m really concerned that a Commonwealth or any Governing body wants to legalize a substance just to pay the bills”

Raising revenue is one of the most cited reasons by Governor Shapiro and other backers to legalize. Envisioned as a new cash crop in Pennsylvania.
