A Scranton man is accused of spraying his father with Lysol when the older man refused to hand over his phone on Tuesday.
At about 7:30 p.m., Jack Harrity, 27, went to 1132 W. Locust St. to retrieve a phone from his father.
John Harrity told officers he was asleep when his son entered the room and demanded the cellphone. When he refused, Jack Harrity first punched his father on the side of the head and then sprayed him with Lysol, according to the criminal complaint.
Officers noted John Harrity’s eye was red and swollen.
Jack Harrity told officers he simply grabbed the phone and wouldn’t have hurt his father.
He is charged with simple assault and harassment. He remains at Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. on March 17 before District Judge Laura Turlip.
