Keystone College played its first women’s flag football game Wednesday and lost to Penn State-Harrisburg, 55-6, in Middletown.
Harrisburg quarterback Nadia King threw for six touchdowns and ran for two. On defense, she also had three interceptions, one of which she returned for a touchdown.
Quarterback Nataly Bermudez scored on a 10-yard run for Keystone. Bermudez finished with 51 passing yards and 20 rushing yards. Victoria Alvarez had two catches for 20 yards, while Tayana Bibbins had two catches for 10 yards. Defensively, Hailee Hackett had nine tackles, while Malina Alexander added three tackles and one sack. Each also had an interception.
Baseball
At Scranton, Aidan Casey was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth inning to force home to go-ahead run and give the University of Scranton a 12-11 nonconference win over Ithaca College on Wednesday at Volpe Field.
Conor Campbell had two hits and two RBIs for the Royals (3-2) and Vincent Napolitano added two hits, one RBI and three runs. Ryan Boyd, Scranton’s fifth pitcher, threw three scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out one to get the victory.
Women’s lacrosse
At Gettysburg, the No. 17-ranked University of Scranton lost to No. 7 Gettysburg College, 14-10, at Clark Field.
Trailing, 14-5, after three quarters, the Royals rallied for five goals in the fourth quarter, but still came up short.
Jillian Lopez had five goals, one assist, three draw controls and two caused turnovers for Scranton (2-3). Lylah Wilhelm added two goals and one draw control. Eileen Hewitt had one goal, two assists and five draw controls. Eva Guerino made 11 saves.
Marywood 18, King’s 3: At Scranton, Marywood raced out to an eight-goal lead after the first quarter and held a 14-1 advantage at the half in a win over the Lady Monarchs.
Avery Meighan had four goals and three assists for the Pacers (2-5), while Kaitlyn Smith had three goals and three assists. Alli Duncan had two goals and two assists. Carly Lynch and Ashley Palmieri each scored twice.
Emilee Schultz had two goals for King’s. Sydney Stratton scored one goal, Brooke Harmonosky had two assists and Sarah Schultz had one.
Men’s lacrosse
At Scranton, McDaniel College used a six-goal third quarter to pull away to a 12-3 nonconference win over Marywood University.
Cutter Stanton led the Green Terror with three goals. Nine players added one goal each.
Shaun Howey, Ben Meighan and Osten Grigas each scored for the Pacers (2-3).
