Authorities have arrested a man in connection with a severe animal cruelty case after a dog was discovered zip‑tied and abandoned in Erie.

Roy King, 63, of Harborcreek, is now facing multiple charges, including torture and aggravated assault, following the discovery of the injured dog.

The dog, now identified as Mimi, was found with her legs tightly bound by zip ties, cutting off circulation and leaving her unable to move. Rescuers say she was subjected to extreme suffering before she was found.

Mimi is currently in critical condition and fighting for her life at the ANNA Shelter. Veterinarians and rescue staff say they are doing everything possible to save her.

In a statement shared on social media, The ANNA Shelter wrote, in part:

“Someone hurt her, tortured her, and caused her tremendous suffering. That someone is now in custody, arrested on felony charges of animal cruelty.”

We will continue to follow Mimi’s condition and bring updates as new information becomes available.
