Man shot and killed during confrontation at girlfriend's house in Philadelphia: police

PHILADELPHIA – A 30-year-old man was shot and killed by his girlfriend’s family member during a domestic altercation at a home in Philadelphia.

What we know:

Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to a home on Peach Street around midnight for reports of a shooting.

Police found a 30-year-old man in a second floor bedroom suffering from a gunshot wound to the face, according to investigators.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene by medics. 

Investigators believe the man showed up at his girlfriend’s house where she lives with her children and a physical altercation erupted.

During the fight, investigators say one of the girlfriend’s family members intervened and fatally shot the man in the face.

Chief Inspector Scott Small said the girlfriend and the suspected shooter stayed at the scene and are cooperating with investigators.

What we don’t know:

Police have not identified the 30-year-old man or the suspected shooter.

Investigators have not said what the couple was arguing about that sparked the fight.
