A man convicted of killing a young child and his babysitter in Palmyra is now being paroled in a different part of the state following public backlash.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office says Chad Campbell will now be paroled in Erie County. The sheriff’s office says the “decision was influenced by the overwhelming public outcry from our citizens.”

Campbell was 14 years old when he stabbed his classmate, Cindy Lewis, 15, and Curtis Rizzo, 17 months, to death in the summer of 1990. Their bodies were found behind the Palmyra-Macedon Middle School.
He was sentenced to 18 years to life in prison, but had been denied parole several times until now. It was announced in November that Campbell would be paroled as early as March 12 and then recently announced that he would go to a location in the town of Ontario, Wayne County. However, that decision has now been reversed.

Rizzo’s family has fought for years to keep Campbell in prison. The family and investigators close to the case say Campbell hasn’t shown any remorse for his crimes, and family members said they would fear for their safety if he were ever released.
