The Philadelphia Eagles are in search of any moves this offseason that put them back into contender status. They’re in the midst of some large decisions on what they’ll eventually do with AJ Brown, as well as whether to pay key free agents like Dallas Goedert, Reed Blankenship, and Nakobe Dean, among others.

One route Philadelphia could take is to make a splash trade that brings someone in rather than sending them out. Thanks to some reporting this morning, we found out that the Eagles could possibly do both in the process of making a trade.

In a shocking bit of news, it was revealed that Eagles DT Jalen Carter could possibly be on the move this summer.

Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon wrote that, “Micah Parsons seemed to suggest on his Bleacher Report podcast that Carter might have been on the table in trade talks with Dallas last offseason.”

This news drastically altered Philadelphia’s chances to land arguably the biggest fish of the offseason, as they instantly became the favorites to land Maxx Crosby.

Earlier in the week, it was reported that the Eagles, among a few others, were keeping tabs on the elite Las Vegas Raiders pass rusher.

It’s been widely believed that while some teams, like the Eagles and Cowboys, were in the mix for Crosby, it was ultimately the Chicago Bears’ race to lose. That is, until today.

With the news of Jalen Carter possibly being available, it changed the entire conversation. The Eagles passed up the Bears as the definitive favorites to land Crosby.

This, paired with Lane Johnson’s cryptic tweet tagging Crosby, has everyone wondering if Crosby to Philadelphia is more of a done deal than anyone really knows.

Carter is an elite DT who, paired with a day two or three draft pick, or even straight up, could possibly haul in Maxx Crosby.

Carter, who is entering the last year of his team-friendly deal with Philadelphia, would be due for what some have called a market-resetting contract in the ballpark of 4 years, $108M very soon.

If you’re Philadelphia, do you pay Carter, or pivot to Crosby to diversify your defensive line with DT Jordan Davis also being a fantastic piece? These are the questions Howie Roseman will have to wrestle with in the coming days or weeks.
