In the summer of 1990, Campbell raped his 15-year-old classmate Cindy Lewis and fatally stabbed her and 17-month-old Curtis Rizzo. Campbell was 14 at the time of the crimes.
He began serving a prison sentence of 18 years to life in 1996 after being convicted of murder. Campbell’s release date is set for next week, and he will be paroled in Erie County.
The Wayne County Sheriff said this decision was made following an overwhelming public outcry.
