EASTON, Pa. – Just in time for spring, a new business will soon bring a customizable venue for weddings, baby showers and other functions alongside a floral shop featuring fresh flowers daily to Northampton County.
Bloom Room Easton, a fully designed event space and floral shop, is expected to hold a soft opening in early April at 527 Northampton St. in downtown Easton, owner Wendy Straker told 69 News.
The soon-to-be updated space was previously home to Old Mecca Cafe.

Bloom Room will specialize in hosting intimate celebrations including bridal showers, baby showers, birthday parties, corporate gatherings and micro-weddings.
Straker, a resident of Easton, is excited to help community members host one-of-a-kind events while creating lasting memories.
“I’m originally an event planner from New York who also became a floral designer, and I moved to Easton about five years ago,” Straker said.
“A friend of mine saw the location on Northampton Street, and it was perfect for what I’m looking to create. It’s 2,300 square feet that we’ll be using as event space to accommodate 80 to 100 people seated. We’re looking to create the most memorable and intimate events – small weddings, bridal showers and so forth.”
The Bloom Room will feature eye-catching floral designs and a beautiful atmosphere for content creating, Straker said.
The team will work closely with clients to showcase specific colors, flowers and other design elements.

In addition to hosting various events, the venue also could be utilized for other uses such as engagement photo shoots, Straker said.
“Our number one service is offering custom designs,” Straker said.
“We have such a large inventory of designs, and so anything that you’re looking for or requesting, we’ll be able to do. We’ll have any color florals that you’re looking for, any type of structures that you’re looking for, etc. We also create stationery, floor wraps, mirrors and magazine boxes for photo ops and content creating.”
Bloom Room Easton also will have an in-house designer specializing in balloons, and clients will be able to request balloon arches and other specific designs.
“The designer is very popular and does some of the most amazing things with balloons,” Straker said.
Bloom Room also will feature a floral shop section, sourcing a wide array of fresh flowers daily, where individuals could purchase pre-made floral arrangements or place an order for a custom floral arrangement, Straker said.
Customers also will be able to order corsages and boutonnières, and delivery of flower arrangements also will be available, Straker said.
“People will be able to order and pick up flowers for a birthday, anniversary and any other occasion,” Straker said. “We’ll be able to make floral arrangements on the spot.”
Customers also will be able to create their own arrangement by choosing individual stems of flowers, and various workshops will be available.
“We’re excited to offer a lot of workshops at the venue,” Straker added.
“For example, we’re collaborating with a baker from New York, who’s going to do a workshop on using flowers for cake decorating.”

Over the next few weeks, the Bloom Room team plans to implement mostly cosmetic renovations that include new wall paint, signage, furniture and other updates.
“I love the historic feel of the building,” Straker said.
“It adds class to the space and works well with what we’re looking to do. I also want to change the flowers in the windows and outside décor with the seasons to add a nice look to the street.”
