Knewell Miller
OBITUARY
Knewell Miller, 85, of Newton Township, passed away in his home on Friday morning after a long illness. He was the widower of Frances Joy Singer Miller, who passed in 1976.
Born in Newton Township, he was the son of the late Norman and Clara Thompson Miller. He was a 1958 graduate of Newton-Ransom High School and served over 41 years as a mail carrier, first on a rural route, then in Clarks Summit. Knewell received the Million Mile Award, the USPSs highest honor for safe driving which recognizes one million miles or thirty years of driving without a preventable accident.
He was a member of the Future Farmers of America and 4H and loved dirt track racing and loud, fast cars. He also loved driving his tractor and spending time in his woodshop.
Surviving are his children, Denise Miller of Newton Township, Troy Miller and wife Christy Lee of Soldotna, Alaska, and Melanie Jascoviez and husband Mark of Clarks Summit; grandchildren Kelly Clark of Hershey, Bethany Mays and husband Brett of Houston, TX, Benjamin Adam Miller of Dallas, TX, and Clara Joy Miller of Seattle, WA; great-grandchildren Bennett and Belle Mays of Houston, TX; sister Velma Miller of Newton Township; and best friend Bill Plantholt.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Illa Kozloski.
The family would like to express their profound gratitude and love to Dr. Lisa Thomas and Nicole Francis and the entire staff of Hematology and Oncology Associates of Northeastern Pennsylvania for their kind and compassionate care.
A funeral will be held on Monday at 12:00 pm at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit. Interment will follow at Newton Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 to 5 pm and Monday from 11 am until the time of the service.
