After a breakout season in 2025, Eagles defensive tackle Jordan Davis was rewarded on Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles and Davis have reached an agreement on a three-year contract extension that will keep the nose tackle in Philadelphia through the 2029 season, a league source confirmed to NBC Sports Philadelphia.

The three-year extension is reportedly worth $78 million with $65 million guaranteed, according to ESPN and NFL Network. That is an average annual salary of $26 million, which makes Davis the highest-paid nose tackle in the NFL and ties him with former Eagle Milton Williams as the second-highest paid defensive tackle behind just Chris Jones in Kanas City.

Davis, 26, was set to play the 2026 season on the fifth-year option of his rookie contract. That was basically a one-year deal for $12,938,000 with a matching cap hit. So this new extension should significantly lower his cap hit for the 2026 season by paying out that base salary in bonus money.

The Eagles drafted Davis with the No. 13 overall pick out of Georgia in the 2022 draft and it took a while for Davis to live up to that draft status. But in 2025, Davis had a breakout season. He started all 17 games, finishing the year with 4 1/2 sacks, 72 tackles, 9 tackles for loss and 9 quarterback hits. Davis had just 3 1/2 sacks in his first three years in the NFL.

The big difference in 2025 was a body transformation that began during the 2024 season. Davis slimmed down and became a different player and earned this new contract.

Because of his new slimmed-down and healthier body, Davis was able to play a career-high 686 snaps (61%) during the 2025 season. His previous career high was 519 back in 2023.

Davis during the 2025 season was one of the Eagles’ best players and was a leader on defense. He was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week for his Week 11 performance against the Lions and was named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his Week 3 performance against the Rams.

The big lesson learned from Davis in the 2025 season?

“That when you put your mind to something and you really want it for yourself, then you can do it,” Davis said at locker cleanout day. “This season was one for myself. You know, a lot of people can tell you what you can and can’t do, but when you really want it for yourself, you really want to make a change, you want to make a necessary change for yourself, then you can do that.

“Not as hard as you think, but the mind is a powerful weapon, and it can also be a powerful being. It’s a double -edged sword, because it can tell you can’t do something, and it can also tell you that you can do something, and I like to choose the folks I can.”

This is just the first move for the Eagles leading into what should be a busy week of free agency starting on Monday. The Eagles have always placed a priority on keeping their own talented players so it shouldn’t be a surprise to see this deal get done.

What might be next? Davis’s fellow defensive tackle Jalen Carter has now played the first three years of his rookie contract and is eligible for a contract extension for the first time in his career. That will likely be a massive one as well. Another talented DT, Moro Ojomo, is also eligible for a contract extension.

Aside from that, the Eagles have a bunch of talented players who will become free agents early next week. Among them are Jaelan Phillips, Dallas Goedert, Nakobe Dean and Reed Blankenship.
