Firefighters from both Scranton and Wilkes-Barre face off once again after their hockey match just a few weeks ago.
SCRANTON, Pa. — The battle of the first responders took place Saturday in Lackawanna County.Â
Firefighters from both Scranton and Wilkes-Barre fire departments faced off in an inaugural ‘Hook and Ladder Challenge.’
The event took place at downtown Scranton’s 7 Under Golf and Social, with both departments facing off in a golf simulator game to keep the competition alive after their previous hockey match.Â
“We’re big on the community and first responders, and they were here playing one day, and we heard about their annual hockey match that they had, and we want to run it back for the golf match. So everybody was very excited about it, and we’re happy to have them here,” said Nick Paone.
The winning department not only gets bragging rights but also a donation to the winning team’s charity of choice.
As for now, 7 Under Golf and Social says the trophy is staying in Scranton.
