There are no to ways about it: the Pittsburgh Steelers need a ton of help at wide receiver.

On top of finally shoring up the WR2 spot behind DK Metcalf, the Steelers also need more depth to fill out a wide receivers room that was one of the worst in the NFL in 2025.

When it comes to who the Steelers could target in free agency, beat writer Mark Kaboly believes Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs is at the top of Pittsburgh’s wish list.

“Outstanding Steelers reporter from the McAfee Show Mark Kaboly believes Romeo Doubs is at the top of the Steelers WR wish list in free agency,” 93.7 The Fan’s Andrew Filliponi relayed after speaking to Kaboly.

Doubs is set to hit the open market after posting 600 yards or more in each of the last three seasons, including a career-high 724 in 2025.

The expectation is Doubs will be playing elsewhere in 2026, as the Packers don’t have a lot of cap space and already sport a crowded wide receivers room with Matthew Golden, Christian Watson, Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks.

This one makes sense for the Steelers for multiple reasons.

For starters, the Steelers won’t have to break the bank for Doubs, who is projected by Spotrac to land a three-year, $49 million contract in free agency. He’s also young (25) and is an ideal fit as a WR2 behind Metcalf.

Doubs also already has familiarity with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who typically prefers to play with guys he knows. Of course, that will only matter if Rodgers actually returns to Pittsburgh for another season.

We would not expect the Steelers to shell out big bucks for a No. 2 wide receiver, so going with a tier 2 option like Doubs is a realistic move.
