Today is Charter Day all across the state.It’s the day we commemorate the 345th birthday of the commonwealth of Pennsylvania.The original charter for the commonwealth of Pennsylvania was signed by King Charles II in March 1681, in recognition of the loyalty of William Penn’s deceased father to the English monarchy, and conveyed the tract of land that is now Pennsylvania to William Penn.
