The body of a Macomb County woman was found over the weekend more than two months after she reportedly jumped from the MacArthur Bridge at in Detroit.

Authorities identified the woman as Jeanne Renee Peterson, 34, of Sterling Heights, who had been reported missing Dec. 19, 2025 when she was seen jumping from the Belle Isle bridge in Detroit.

According to a news release from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, someone called 911 Saturday around 11:30 a.m. to report a body was floating just offshore in the are of Bolles Harbor on the 13000 block of Shady Lane. The Monroe Township Fire Department recovered the body and brought it to shore.

Peterson was transported to the Lucas County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy. Michigan State Police assisted with making notification to the victim’s family.

The case remains under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Detective Bureau at 734-240-7530.
