BANDON, Ore. – The University of Pennsylvania men’s golf team is in 14th place after the first day at the Bandon Dunes Championship. The three-day, 54-hole event is taking place on the famed Pacific Dunes course at Bandon Dunes, the No. 2-ranked public course in America.

Penn shot 6-over-par 290 in Sunday’s first round. Oregon State is the team leader after Sunday’s play, the Beavers finishing the day five shots ahead of second-place Oregon. Utah Tech and Sacramento State are tied for third.

Arjun Caprihan was Penn’s low scorer on Sunday; the freshman carded a 2-under-par 69 on the Pacific Dunes course. That had him tied for 17th in a 96-player field. Hayden Adams shot an even-par 71 and is tied for 36th, while Kayden Wang (73, +2) and Wesley Hu (77, +6) were the Quakers’ other scorers on the day. Ryan Chang was the Red and Blue’s fifth finisher in the lineup (82, +11). Penn also had three players in the field as individuals: Henry Chen—who shot 1-under-par 70—Max Fonseca (73, +2), and Owen Hayes (91, +20).

Oregon State’s Nguyen Anh Minh shot a 10-under-par 61 on Sunday and holds the individual lead. He is five strokes up on four golfers who are tied for second at 5-under-par 66.
