DUNMORE, Pa. — Dunmore officials on Sunday closed a bridge over the Roaring Brook on Sunday once they found a hole had opened up.
The hole was found Sunday morning where two sections of Dunmore’s Bunker Hill Bridge meet. It is not a large hole, but Council President Thomas Hallinan said the borough decided err on the side of safety and temporarily close the bridge.
Officials were waiting for the borough engineer to take a look at the damage and decide what to do next.
The bridge crosses railroad tracks and the Roaring Brook to connect Mill Street and Erie Street.
Drivers can still make that crossing by driving a few blocks east of the bridge and using Wheeler Avenue and Ash Street.
