Gas prices are continuing to climb due to the war in the Middle East.

Here in Pennsylvania, according to AAA, the price of gas has risen 40 cents, averaging $3.57 per gallon.

Last week, that number was $3.11 after the first full day of the war in Iran.

The national average price for a gallon of gas today is $3.45, up an average of 47 cents nationally.

Last Wednesday, Governor Shapiro took questions in Northumberland County, and when asked what his message was for Pennsylvanians worried about the rise in gas prices, he said this.

“That, combined with tariffs that the president put in place have caused costs to rise over the last year, it’s really concerning. I talked before about how we’ve cut taxes seven times in Pennsylvania. We’re putting money back in people’s pockets. When prices spike as a result of federal action, that makes it harder in communities here in Central Pennsylvania and all across our Commonwealth,” said Governor Shapiro.

The governor also says that the rise in prices here in Pennsylvania is due to the lack of clarity in the Middle East.
