PITTSBURGH, PA — A Pittsburgh-area hookah lounge was ordered closed after numerous health code violations were found during a recent inspection.

The Allegheny County Health Department has issued a closure notice for the Paradise Island Hookah Lounge in Duquesne Plaza in Duquesne.

According to the inspection report, a pan of spoiled raw chicken was discovered. The chicken “has a strong odor, (is) slimy and is discolored.”

Additionally, dog feces was found on the floor under a swing in the swing bar room. As the inspection report noted, “dogs are not allowed in food facilities.”

The restroom was deemed not fully functional, and the lounge requires two restrooms.

A “closed” placard is posted at an establishment when an imminent health hazard is identified at a restaurant or kitchen or if it has been operating without proper permits.

It is unlawful to operate a food facility with a “closed” placard.
