READING, Pa. – The Berks County Board of Elections voted Thursday to approve the appointment of 921 poll workers for the November 4 general municipal election.

Director of Elections Anne Norton said she was pleased to report the number includes 39 students.

Norton said every judge of election spot is filled, but there are a handful of openings for poll workers throughout the county.

“We are not going to discourage anybody that’s interested to let us know, because as we know, we have late dropouts sometimes,” Norton said. “So anyone interested can still apply or reach out to our office.”

Norton further reported that, to date, approximately 26,000 mail-in and absentee ballots have been sent to voters and about 13,000 have been returned.

The deadline to apply for an absentee ballot is Oct. 28 by 5 p.m.
