A woman in her 40s who was shot by her partner in an apartment on 69th Street on Monday afternoon is recovering, Upper Darby police say.

Units were called to an apartment on the fifth floor in the 6900 block of Ludlow Street about 1:30 p.m.

The victim was reported to have a gunshot wound to the chest, and was taken to Penn Presbyterian Hospital.

Township Police Superintendent Timothy Bernhardt said the two women involved are a couple, and they stated the shooting was an accident.

Police are still investigating Monday night as they obtain a warrant for the apartment.

Bernhardt said the hospital reported to police that the victim will survive.
