A Pennsylvania State Trooper was shot and killed Sunday night, March 8, 2026, during a vehicle stop in Chester County.
Officials said Corporal Timothy O’Connor responded to the Honey Brook area around 8:30 p.m. for the report of an erratic driver.
He called in the traffic stop and wasn’t heard from after that.
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro met with O’Connor’s family around midnight, then addressed the media.
“There are many questions, many of which will go unanswered,” Shapiro said, “But the one thing we absolutely know for certain is that their son, their husband, is a hero. He died protecting others, and that is a noble calling. That is something we’re profoundly grateful for.”
After shooting O’Connor, it’s believed the driver of the vehicle, a 32-year old Chester County man, took his own life.
