Drivers planning to head downtown for Scranton and Wilkes-Barre’s annual Parade Day festivities should be aware of parking restrictions that will be in place throughout much of the cities’ downtowns.
According to a map released ahead of the event, no parking will be permitted from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026, along several major downtown streets. The restrictions coincide with the city’s St. Patrick’s Parade Day celebration.
Streets Affected
The parade steps off at noon. The no-parking zones primarily impact the downtown grid surrounding key government buildings and hotels. Streets and avenues marked for restrictions include:
Wyoming AvenueNorth Washington AvenuePenn AvenueFranklin AvenueJefferson AvenueAdams AvenuePortions of Mulberry Street, Vine Street, Linden Street, and Biden StreetAreas near Center Street and Market Place at Steamtown**
The map indicates closures stretching from around Mifflin Avenue in the north to Madison Avenue in the south, with affected areas extending east to Vine Street and west to Lackawanna Avenue.
Landmarks within the impacted area include Scranton City Hall, the Lackawanna County Courthouse, the Hilton, and the Radisson Hotel. The parade route appears to travel through the heart of downtown near these locations.
What Drivers Should Know
Vehicles parked in restricted zones during the designated hours may be subject to ticketing or towing. Officials are urging residents and visitors to plan, use public parking garages outside the route, or consider alternative transportation.
Parade Day, organized in part by the St. Patrick’s Parade Association of Lackawanna County, draws large crowds each year to celebrate Irish heritage in northeastern Pennsylvania.
City officials remind motorists to check signage and posted updates before parking downtown on March 14.
