MOUNT POCONO, MONROE CO. (WOLF) — A 43-year-old Bethlehem man who had been reported missing last month was pronounced dead Sunday after being found in a wooded area of Mount Pocono.

Authorities say Matthew Thompson was discovered near the Mount Pocono Municipal Wastewater Treatment Facility and was pronounced deceased at the scene at 1:39 p.m. on March 8.

An autopsy has been scheduled for March 10. Officials say the cause and manner of death remain pending.

The Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department is leading the investigation into the incident.

Bethlehem Police say Thompson was reported missing on February 15 shortly after 8:30 a.m.

According to Bethlehem Police, initial observations at the scene did not indicate obvious signs of foul play. However, investigators emphasized that the case remains active pending further examination and autopsy results.

Additional information is expected to be released as the investigation continues.
