A man who was reported missing by his wife in Bethlehem was later found dead in Mount Pocono, according to the City of Bethlehem Police Department.
Matthew Thompson, 43, of Bethlehem, was reportedly last seen on Feb. 13, 2026 around 9 a.m. by his wife, police said.
It was found that Thompson had gone to Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania, for a real estate transaction ahead of a planned move, police explained.
It was in the afternoon of Feb. 13 that Thompson stopped using his cell phone, according to investigators.
His car was found and towed away from a private road later that evening, officials said.
Investigators reported that Thompson called for an Uber ride but left before the driver could get there.
It was around this time that Thompson was seen on surveillance cameras on the unit block of Fork Street in Mount Pocono which investigators said is the last known sighting of him.
Then, on Sunday, March 8, human remains were found near the Mount Pocono Municipal Wastewater Treatment Facility which are believed to be Thompson, officials said.
An autopsy of Thompson is scheduled for March 10, 2026.
