PITTSBURGH, PA — A Western Pennsylvania bakery is in trouble with state Department of Agriculture officials.
Bill’s Bake Shoppe on North Liberty Street in New Castle was cited by the department after a March 6 inspection.
“Potential rodent and dead bug harborage (was found) throughout this facility, mice feces (was) found on sheeter equipment, shelving and floor throughout main baking room, storage closet and dry grain storage located in back room,” the inspection report stated.
Additionally, non-food contact surfaces were unclean and had accumulations of dirt, rodent droppings, dead bugs and soil on the all equipment such as mixers, all shelving, table legs, in main pre-bakery room food storage containers-bins and mobile carts.
The bakery remains open. Another inspection will occur within the next week.
