SUGAR NOTCH — A father, his son, and a woman were charged over the weekend on allegations they assaulted Pennsylvania State Police troopers.

Troopers responded to a vehicle crash in the area of 240 Freed St., Sugar Notch, and a man and a woman arguing at about 3 p.m. Saturday.

As a trooper arrived, he encountered Alexis Marie Androski, 21, walking away from the scene, according to court records.

The trooper instructed Androski to return to the residence so he could commence an investigation. Androski argued with her mother, who was standing in front of the residence, and attempted to push past her, resulting in the trooper grabbing Androski by the arms and the sweatshirt to escort her to the front of his patrol cruiser, court records say.

Court records say Androski’s boyfriend, Nathan Sipple, 23, emerged from the side of the residence and engaged the trooper from behind, resulting in a second trooper intervening to stop Nathan Sipple.

Nathan Sipple pushed the second trooper, court records allege, causing the first trooper to take action against Nathan Sipple.

During a struggle, Nathan Sipple attempted to place the first trooper in a headlock, causing Nathan Sipple and the trooper to fall to the ground, court records say.

As the struggle continued, Nathan Sipple’s father, Edward Sipple, 59, exited a vehicle parked on Freed Street and put his arm around the neck of the first trooper to pull him away from handcuffing his son, according to court records.

While the first trooper engaged with Edward Sipple, court records say, Nathan Sipple reengaged with the first trooper.

Edward Sipple and Nathan Sipple were eventually apprehended with the assistance of an off-duty police officer and a civilian.

The first trooper suffered minor cuts to his hands and a bruise near his right eye.

While at the Pennsylvania State Police, Troop P, station, a handcuffed Androski screamed and struck a trooper in the chest, court records say.

Nathan Sipple, of Freed Street, Sugar Notch, and Edward Sipple, of North Main Street, Fairview Township, were charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment, obstruction of justice, and resisting arrest.

Androski, of Freed Street, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, and harassment.

District Judge Thomas Malloy of Wilkes-Barre arraigned the trio.

Nathan Sipple and Edward Sipple were released from the Luzerne County Correctional Facility after posting $50,000 bail each on Monday.

Androski remained jailed Monday at the county correctional facility for lack of $25,000 bail.
