READING, Pa. – An effort to stop scammers in their tracks came to the Hispanic Center in Reading on Monday.

Officials with the state Department of Banking and Securities and the Berks County District Attorney’s Office offered tips to help people recognize scams.

“It’s very important to provide education, information to all seniors and anyone who may be at risk of being scammed,” ,” said state Rep. Johanny Cepeda-Freytiz (D-129th). “I think it’s important to equip people with the necessary tools so they can identify and prevent being victims of scams and fraudulent activity.”

Authorities say if you get any suspicious calls, you should hang up, and never share personal or financial information over the phone.
