Marguiet Marie “Marge” Scranton Quincy Jones was the daughter of Robert Gerald Scranton and Lura Elva Rowley. She was born February 25, 1932 in Springcreek, Pike County, Illinois. She enjoyed growing up on a farm milking cows, feeding chickens and pigs and riding her horse. Her grandparents were a great influence in her young life. Marge was a lifelong animal lover but she especially loved her dogs.
Marge married Arnold Wayne Quincy on February 12, 1949. They bought a home on three and a half acres on the outskirts of Barry, Illinois. They are the parents of three boys, Gary and twin boys Richard and Raymond. Wayne was killed in a tragic car accident on July 15, 1961.
Marge decided to move to California in search of a place with greater opportunities for her to raise her three boys. She bought a map, packed the car and drove to Orange County California. Marge worked very hard to provide for her family. There were times when she worked three jobs to keep things together. She was introduced to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was baptized along with her boys on October 13, 1962.
Marge met Edward Jones in 1972, and they were married on June 26, 1973. She and Ed lived in Southern California and built a business together. They moved to Santa Clara, Utah in 1993, and continued their business in St. George. Ed passed away May 3, 1997, concluding his battle with cancer. Marge moved to St. George until she moved into memory care at Ovation at Sienna Hills in Washington City and subsequently to Sunridge Assisted Living in West Jordan, Utah.
Marge is preceded in death by her parents, brother Ronald, husbands Wayne and Edward and her son Raymond. She is survived by her sons Gary (Jane) and Richard (Christine), eleven grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
A celebration of life for Marge will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026, at the LDS chapel located at 1570 West 11400 South, South Jordan, UT. There will be a viewing from 6:00 -7:00 p.m. followed immediately by her funeral. Interment will be on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. in the Santa Clara City Cemetery, 1950 Ancestor Way, Santa Clara, Utah.
