The Lehigh Valley on Tuesday tied a record high temperature set in 2016, according to data from the National Weather Service.

The thermometer at Lehigh Valley International Airport topped out at 80 degrees Tuesday afternoon, following Monday’s unusually warm weather that had people rushing outside.

Meteorologist Alex Staarmann at the weather service’s Mount Holly, New Jersey, forecast office confirmed the reading, adding that Tuesday’s temperature makes it the third-earliest 80-degree day on record for the Lehigh Valley.

The chart below shows record highs and lows for every day in March. The reports for March 10 are preliminary and may be subject to revision.

The National Weather Service predicts mild temperatures to persist through Wednesday, although rain showers are expected to move in around noon.

But don’t plant your petunias just yet: Cooler temperatures are expected to return, including nights below freezing.

Wednesday: A chance of showers, mainly after 1 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 76. Light and variable wind becoming south 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

New rainfall amounts between a 10th and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Thursday: A chance of showers before 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 53. Northwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts between a 10th and quarter of an inch possible.

Thursday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 30. West wind 5 to 10 mph.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 48.

Friday night: A chance of rain before 2 a.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 36. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 50.
