CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — A Pennsylvania State Police vehicle got into a crash while responding to reports of a shooting in South Middleton Township Tuesday.

Troopers were dispatched around 3:35 p.m. to a home in the 300 block of Fairview Township after receiving report of gunshots.

But on the way there, a marked state police vehicle was involved in a crash with an unrelated vehicle, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

The trooper was not injured, but the driver of the other vehicle was taken to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Troopers arrived on scene of the Fairview Street home and established a perimeter, but after talking with residents, troopers learned there had been no shooting.

“After establishing contact with the residents of the property, it was determined that a shooting did not occur,” a press release from Pennsylvania State Police reads.

Cumberland Goodwill EMS has asked the public late Tuesday afternoon to avoid the 300 block of Fairview Street due to “multiple active incidents.”

CBS 21 arrived on scene around 5 p.m. to find crews towing a vehicle that had been flipped off the side of the road. The tow company also removed a Pennsylvania State Police vehicle from the scene.

Around 5:30 p.m., Pennsylvania State Police said there was no threat or ongoing incident.

In a press release, troopers said they are still investigating the report of the shooting.
