SALISBURY TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The second round of the state basketball tournament is set for Tuesday and Wednesday this week across the six classifications.

Out of the Lehigh Valley teams that advanced last weekend, the Salisbury boys posted one of the more impressive results – going to West Philadelphia and pulling out a 54-45 win.

The Falcons earned a second round date with District 2 champ Scranton Prep tomorrow night at Pleasant Valley High School in Class 4A.

The Cavaliers, ousted Schuylkill Valley in their opener.

A tough test for the Falcons as they eye a spot in the elite eight.

“They’re again, not a big team. I mean, they’re 6’2″-6’3″ biggest guy, but they score a lot of points. They make a lot of threes” head coach Jason Weaver said.

“They’ve got this guy his name is Packy Doherty. I believe he’s averaging 22 a game. He’s got 76 threes on the season. They like to run. They’re going to trap. So, West Philly sorta prepared us for them. Similar team. Not big, but just quick and athletic.”

“We lost two semifinal games, to make it to title games in leagues and districts. So, you know it’s kind of now where we’re at the end of the playoffs. It’s the last playoff run. So, we’re trying to make it as far as we can” added Falcon senior Bryan Gonzalez.
