OBITUARY
William L. McCormick, 89, a resident of North Scranton, died Sunday in Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Leo and Helen Doherty McCormick. He was a member of Mary, Mother of God Parish. He was formerly employed by Holy Cross High School maintenance department. He was an avid golfer and was a high school basketball fan. He loved the students at the school and they reciprocated with their appreciation of him. Bill was jovial, always smiling with those beautiful blue eyes.
Surviving are nieces and nephews including his caregiver Michele Jimcosky, Scranton, and his sister-in-law Joan Costello McCormick. He was also preceded in death by his sister Marie Larkin, and brothers; Leo, Raymond, James, Donald, Joseph and infant Cyrus.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 9:30 AM in Holy Rosary Church, Mary, Mother of God Parish, by Rev. Cyril Edwards, Pastor. Interment Cathedral Cemetery. Per Bill’s wishes, there is no viewing. All are invited to go directly to the church Friday morning. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Center.
