ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Allentown police are trying to identify those responsible for an unauthorized park gathering that had 200 to 250 juveniles in attendance, resulting in multiple physical altercations.

On Tuesday at approximately 6:30 p.m., the Allentown Police Department responded to the gathering at Clyde E. Bosket Sr. Park (Valania Park).

Approximately 200 to 250 juveniles were in attendance, resulting in multiple physical altercations and the disruption of community members legitimately using the park, authorities said.

Officers restored order by clearing the park and terminating the event, according to a news release.

The Allentown Police Department Youth Division is conducting an investigation to identify those responsible, and the Department intends to pursue formal charges against the people involved, according to the news release.

Allentown police chief Charles Roca says that violence is never an acceptable solution to conflict.

“I urge parents and guardians to remain vigilant and discourage their children from participating in unauthorized “takeover” events promoted by way of social media or other digital platforms,” Roca said in a news release.
