SALISBURY TWP., Pa. – The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office & Forensics Center is reporting several deaths related to snow removal activities during the recent winter storm season.
Authorities say six deaths in Lehigh County are associated with snow removal, primarily involving snow shoveling and other strenuous winter cleanup activities following major snowstorms that hit the area in recent months.
“These tragic incidents highlight the dangers of strenuous snow removal, especially for individuals with underlying health conditions. Cold temperatures combined with heavy physical exertion can place significant stress on the heart and cardiovascular system,” said Lehigh Coroner Daniel Buglio.
The Northampton County Coroner reported nine weather-related deaths from December 2025 to March.Â
Across the county line, Berks County Coroner Matt Stitzel says his office has recorded two deaths related to snow removal this winter season.
Stitzel says the deaths primarily involved snow shoveling.
